Danielle Dugat, DVM, MS, DACVS (Small Animal)

Danielle Dugat, DVM, MS, DACVS (Small Animal)

Born and raised in sunny California, Dr. Dugat found her calling in Oklahoma. 

After completing her veterinary studies at Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, she completed advanced training in soft tissue, orthopedics, and neurosurgery. During her residency, Dr. Dugat also completed her Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences.

A believer in advancing veterinary medicine, Dr. Dugat has contributed over 30 scholarly manuscripts to various veterinary journals. Additionally, her research insights led her to author a textbook chapter on Percutaneous Laser Disk Ablation (PLDA).

Now, as a proud Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2013 and after a fulfilling 16-year tenure at Oklahoma State University, Dr. Dugat brings her expertise and passionate drive to VSCS. As a veterinary specialist, she’s excited to provide advanced, compassionate services to patients in Oklahoma, the surrounding states, and nationwide. 

Married with one daughter and a stepson, she spends much of her free time chasing her daughter between competitive soccer matches and showing goats. You can often find Dr. Dugat and her family in the stands cheering for the OKC Thunder. She is the proud owner of two dogs, Tank—a German Shepherd, and Angus—a standard Dachshund, along with cats Dusty and Goat Kitty. Adding to the lively mix are the family’s 25 spirited Boer goats.

Carey, RVT, VTS (Ophthalmology)

Oklahoma-born and bred, Carey has harbored a lifelong passion for animals. This early enthusiasm directed her toward a career in veterinary nursing, culminating in her graduation in 1999 with a degree in Veterinary Technology.

While she began her career in private practice, Carey's drive to broaden her horizons and specialize led her to Oklahoma State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2004. Here, she dedicated the majority of her career to the Ophthalmology department, earning her distinguished Veterinary Technician Specialty in Ophthalmology (VTS) in 2017.

After two rewarding decades at Oklahoma State University, Carey teamed up with Dr. Dugat to bring VSCS to life. While she relishes every facet of veterinary medicine, it's her passion for the client experience and outstanding patient care that genuinely fulfills her.

Carey is a founding member of the Academy of Veterinary Ophthalmic Technicians (AVOT) and proudly served on the board for six years. Additionally, she's a member of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) and the Oklahoma Veterinary Technician Association (OVTA). She also serves on the OSU-OKC advisory committee for the veterinary technology academic program.  

On the home front, Carey is blessed with two teenage boys. Between baseball games, band practices, and Boy Scout commitments, there's never a dull moment. Two dogs— Layla and Winston, and a one-eyed cat, Uno, round out the family. In her free time, Carey cherishes time with her loved ones and enjoys shopping for anything pink and sparkly and watching OSU Cowboy football. GO POKES!

Delicia , RVT

Delicia, RVT

With nearly 25 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Delicia's journey is fueled by a lifelong passion for working with animals, a calling that took root during her childhood in the Texas panhandle. Her commitment to the field led her to graduate from Tulsa Community College's Veterinary Technology program in 2004, earning her title as a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Throughout her career, Delicia has amassed a wealth of expertise by collaborating with board-certified specialists in anesthesia, internal medicine, cardiology, and surgery. Her dedication extends beyond the realm of veterinary care; she is genuinely enthusiastic about making a positive impact on both animals and the people who love them.

In a testament to her diverse interests, Delicia is currently pursuing a massage therapy license, showcasing her commitment to holistic well-being. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two teenage kids, and an assortment of animals. Delicia's career reflects not only her professional accomplishments but also her deep-rooted passion for the wellbeing of both humans and animals.

Melissa , RVT

Melissa, RVT

Hailing from Southern New Jersey, Melissa's profound love for animals has been a guiding force since her childhood. This passion fueled her educational and professional pursuits in the field of animal care. Melissa earned her Associate of Arts degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rowan College of South Jersey in 2015, laying the foundation for her academic journey.

Her quest for knowledge led her to Delaware Valley University, where she obtained her Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology and Pre-Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Melissa's dedication to the well-being of animals became evident as she embarked on her career path.

Securing a position as a Veterinary Assistant in Emergency and Critical Care at a New Jersey practice, Melissa showcased her versatility by contributing to general practice and assisting in surgeries and anesthetic procedures. Her accumulated knowledge and skills paved the way for her to take the VTNE in 2019, making her a Registered Veterinary Technician.

In 2021, Melissa took a significant step in her career by relocating to Oklahoma to join the ICU at OSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Here, she crossed paths with Dr. Dugat, transitioning to the surgery service, where she thrived as one of her surgery technicians until embracing her role with VSCS.

Melissa's true passion lies in comprehensive patient care. She is dedicated to ensuring that clients receive clear answers to their questions regarding the proper treatment and care of their pets, recognizing these animals as integral members of their families.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Melissa enjoys exploring antique and thrift stores, collecting oil lamps and western memorabilia. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family. At home, she is accompanied by two cats, Evie and Tink, and a German Shepherd named Nala. Melissa's career reflects not only her professional accomplishments but also her commitment to creating a positive impact on the lives of animals and their human companions.

Geena , RVT

Geena, RVT

Geena's journey into veterinary medicine began with a childhood dream of nursing inspired by her mom. Her love for animals led her to a transformative internship at a local veterinary hospital during her senior year of high school in 2017. This experience paved the way for a full-time position at the same clinic while in tech school, exposing her to ER, ICU, general medicine, surgery, and anesthesia.

In pursuit of new opportunities, Geena moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma to work at OSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Graduating with an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster College in early 2023.  She became a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) upon completion of her board exam in April of 2024.

Geena's passions in surgery and emergency/critical care showcase her dedication to the well-being of animals which inspired her move to VSCS. An advocate for voiceless creatures, she showers every patient with love in their time of need.

Outside her veterinary endeavors, Geena shares her life with 2 cats and 2 dogs. One of her dogs, Carson, is an Oklahoma State University’s Pete’s Pet Posse therapy team member.

Her free time revolves around her four-legged companions, adventures with her boyfriend, beach outings, quality time with loved ones, and moments of relaxation. Geena's multifaceted life reflects her deep commitment to her profession and personal joys.

Ashley , RVT

Ashley, RVT

Ashley's journey through the veterinary field is truly inspiring! From her roots in Oologah, OK, she's cultivated a deep love for animals that has guided her career path. Starting at just 16 years old, her dedication to caring for animals has been unwavering.

Her educational journey is impressive. Ashley earned an associates degree from Connors State College and moved on to Oklahoma State University earning a bachelor's degree in Zoology. In 2023 she graduated from Purdue University and earned her degree in Veterinary Nursing.  It's clear she's committed to expanding her knowledge and expertise in animal care.

In addition to being an overnight technician at VSCS, Ashely is also employed at Perkins Road Pet Clinic in Stillwater. This dedication shows her readiness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Ashley's involvement with the Humane Society of Stillwater and Operation Catnip highlights her commitment to animal welfare beyond the clinic walls. It's evident that she's not only passionate about providing medical care but also about ensuring the well-being of animals in her community.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Ashley finds joy in spending time with her loved ones, engaging in outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, and of course, cherishing the company of her many pets. It's heartwarming to see her dedication to both her career and her personal passions.

With her RVT license and wealth of experience, Ashley undoubtedly makes a difference in the lives of both animals and their owners every day.

 
 
 
 
Jolene , RVT

Jolene, RVT

Jolene's journey embodies the essence of resilience and determination. From her roots in Seattle to her adventures in the Marine Corps and veterinary medicine, she has embraced challenges with unwavering resolve. Her enduring love for animals has guided her path, leading her to pursue a career in veterinary technology and ultimately fulfill her dream of owning a farm in Oklahoma.

Jolene has diverse array of animals on her farm including a dairy cow, goats, pigs, dogs, chickens and ducks.  Someday she hopes to add a horse to her mini farm.   Jolene has a nurturing spirit which is proven by her dedication to providing a loving home for all creatures, big and small....except snakes.  Despite her fear of snakes, she remains steadfast in her commitment to creating a safe haven for her family.

Jolene's dreams of sailing the Mediterranean and Ireland speak to her adventurous soul, while her hobbies reflect her passion for creativity and physical activity. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.  When time allows; baking, gardening, making cheese, or coaching sports top the list of her favorite things to do.  

 

Veterinary Assistants

Shayla

Shayla

Originally from Burleson, Texas, Shalya knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of six years old. 

Her journey into veterinary medicine began early on when she started volunteering at a vet clinic at the age of 16. While still attending high school, Shayla earned her Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) certification. 

In May of 2022, Shayla graduated with a bachelor's degree in animal science from Tarleton State University.  Her passion for veterinary medicine led her to pursue further education, and she is currently in her second year of veterinary school at Oklahoma State University.

Since kindergarten, Shayla knew that veterinary medicine was her calling. She's always been captivated by the diverse paths it offers, and currently, she is particularly interested in mixed animal general practice and physical therapy and rehabilitation. She believes in the power of veterinary medicine to improve the lives of both animals and their human companions.

This past January, Shayla married her high school sweetheart, embarking on a new chapter of life together. Their family includes two dogs, a lab mix named Violet and a red Boston terrier named Elliott. In her free time, Shayla enjoys hiking with her dogs, exploring different states, and indulging in old arcade games.

A fun fact about Shayla is that she ran collegiate track during her first two years of college. Additionally, she will be the first veterinarian in her family!

Riley

Riley

Riley, originally from Weatherford, Texas, has had a deep passion for animals since childhood. Spending countless hours in her grandfather’s veterinary office ignited her dream of a career in veterinary medicine. She developed a particular love for horses while helping on her grandmother’s ranch, working with cattle and horses alike.

Recently, Riley graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in animal science business. Throughout high school and college, she volunteered and shadowed at various clinics, aspiring to attend vet school. However, as she prepared for her future, she shifted her focus toward a career in animal health sales.

Outside of work, Riley enjoys spending time with her dog, Cooper, and her horses, Ringo and Lane. You can often find her at ropings, cheering on her boyfriend.

Jenn, R.T.(R) ARRT

Jenn is a highly skilled and compassionate certified radiology technologist with over 10 years of experience in the veterinary field. Born and raised in Moore, Oklahoma, Jenn discovered her passion for animals at a young age. After graduating from Autry Technology Center in 2007 with a degree in radiology, she knew she wanted to specialize in diagnostic imaging for animals.

Driven by her commitment to providing the best possible care for animals, Jenn decided to further her education by pursuing specialized MRI training in 2008. This additional training allowed her to enhance her skills and knowledge in the field of veterinary radiography.

Throughout her career, Jenn has gained expertise in various imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, and orthopedic radiographs. She understands the importance of obtaining accurate and high-quality images to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of animals. Her dedication to her work and her passion for animals have made her an invaluable asset to the veterinary teams she has been a part of.

In addition to her professional achievements, Jenn is a proud pet owner. She shares her home with three dogs and one cat, all of whom hold a special place in her heart. Outside of work, Jenn enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, creating cherished memories together.

Jenn unwavering dedication to animal well-being, combined with her extensive experience and expertise in veterinary radiography, make her an indispensable member of the veterinary community. Her commitment to obtaining the best imaging for accurate diagnoses ensures that animals receive the care they truly deserve.

Emma

Emma's journey to veterinary medicine is both inspiring and deeply rooted in her early experiences. Growing up on a multi-species livestock farm in Kansas and later moving to Oklahoma, she was immersed in the world of animals from a young age. Her summers traveling with her veterinarian grandfather, attending continuing education conferences, clearly fueled her passion for the field.

After high school, Emma pursued her studies at Oklahoma State University, starting with a focus on human development before realizing her true calling lay in animal science. Her dedication led her to a role at Oklahoma State University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital as a student receptionist, where she honed her skills and deepened her understanding of veterinary medicine.

Emma's brief hiatus from the field was short-lived; her strong commitment to veterinary medicine drove her back, leading her to join the team at VSCS. Her goal is to further her education and gain more hands-on experience with animals, reflecting her dedication to both client and patient care.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Emma finds joy in baking, cheering for the Cowboys football team, and spending quality time with her loved ones and pets.
